Privacy Notice
Last updated 30 August 2026
SoloPair pairs you with another person for a one-to-one conversation. This notice explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it. It covers the SoloPair Android app and this website.
SoloPair is available worldwide. Wherever you use it from, this notice applies to you, and some regions give you extra rights that are set out near the end.
Information you give us
Account details. If you sign in with Google, we receive the email address and basic profile information tied to that Google account, and store an account identifier for you.
Guest use. If you continue as a guest, we do not create an account and do not receive your email address. We generate a random identifier that is stored on your device so we can count you as one returning user. Clearing app data or uninstalling erases it.
Profile. The nickname and gender you choose during setup. Your nickname is shown to the people you are matched with.
Identity verification (optional). If you choose to get verified, we collect a photograph of a government identity document and a selfie taken through a liveness check. These images are uploaded to our storage provider and reviewed to decide your verification status. Verification is entirely optional and you can use SoloPair without it.
Your conversations
Messages are delivered directly between you and your match. When you are signed in, a copy of each message you send is also encrypted on your device and stored so we can investigate abuse reports and keep the service safe.
That copy is encrypted before it leaves your phone and the app itself holds no key that can read it back. However, we hold the corresponding private key on our side, so we are able to decrypt and read stored messages. We do so only to investigate safety and abuse issues, or where the law requires it.
Messages sent while using SoloPair as a guest are not stored by us.
Treat a conversation as you would any conversation with a stranger. Do not share financial details, identity documents, passwords, or your home address with a match.
Information collected automatically
Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to record which screens you open and actions such as starting a search, being matched, and ending a conversation. This is linked to your account or guest identifier and to your device’s Android advertising ID.
Advertising measurement. Where we advertise SoloPair, we use these events to measure which campaigns lead to installs and sign-ups. You can limit this in Android under Settings, Privacy, Ads by deleting or resetting your advertising ID.
Product analytics. We use Microsoft Clarity, which records how you interact with screens in the app — taps, scrolling and navigation — to help us find usability problems.
Notifications. We subscribe your device to a general alerts topic so we can let you know when people are available to chat. This is a broadcast subscription and does not identify you individually.
Diagnostics. Basic device and app information such as app version, operating system version, and device model.
Why we use your information
To match you with another person and deliver your conversation.
To keep SoloPair safe: to investigate reports, detect abuse, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
To verify identity, where you have chosen to be verified, and to apply your preference to match only with verified people.
To understand how the app is used and to improve it.
To measure the effectiveness of our advertising.
To comply with legal obligations.
Our legal grounds for using it
Where the law requires us to have a legal basis (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and the UK), we rely on:
Performance of a contract — to run your account, match you, and deliver your conversations.
Legitimate interests — to keep SoloPair safe, prevent abuse, understand how the app is used, and measure our advertising.
Consent — for identity verification, which is optional and which you can decline. Where consent is required for analytics or advertising in your region, we rely on the consent you give.
Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information.
Identity documents and facial images are treated as sensitive information in many countries. We process them only with your explicit consent, given when you choose to start verification.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it with service providers who process it on our behalf:
Supabase — accounts, profile data, verification status, and stored encrypted messages.
Cloudflare R2 — storage of identity verification images.
Google — sign-in, analytics, advertising measurement, hosting, and push notifications.
Microsoft — product analytics through Clarity.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
Account and profile information is kept while your account exists. Verification images are kept for as long as needed to review your application and to keep a record of the decision. Stored messages are kept for a limited period for safety review. Analytics data is retained according to the standard retention settings of the providers named above.
When you delete your account we remove your profile and verification records, other than anything we are required to keep by law.
Where your information goes
SoloPair is offered worldwide and our providers operate globally, so your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Those countries may have different data protection rules than where you live.
Where we transfer information out of the EEA, the UK, or another region with transfer restrictions, we rely on the safeguards offered by our providers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your choices and rights
Use SoloPair as a guest to avoid creating an account at all.
Skip identity verification — it is optional.
Change your nickname and gender at any time from your profile.
Sign out, which clears your locally stored profile.
Reset or delete your Android advertising ID to limit ad measurement.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain uses. Contact us using the address below to make a request.
Rights in your region
India. SoloPair is operated from India and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 applies to it. You have the right to access a summary of your personal data and how we process it, to have it corrected or completed, to have it erased, to nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated, and to have your grievances addressed. Write to the address below, which is our grievance contact, and you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
EEA and UK. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your information, the right to receive it in a portable form, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
California. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by California law, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond measuring our own campaigns. You have the right to know, delete, and correct your information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
Brazil, Canada, Australia, and other regions. Local law may give you similar rights to access, correct, or delete your information, and to complain to a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the period your local law requires, and we may need to confirm your identity first.
Age requirement
SoloPair is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child is using SoloPair, contact us and we will remove the account.
Security
Connections to our services use transport encryption, messages stored for safety review are encrypted on your device before upload, and access to verification images is restricted. No service can promise perfect security, and you share information in a conversation at your own risk.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when our practices change and revise the date at the top. Significant changes will be brought to your attention in the app.
